Coming into the 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season, several established and accomplished veterans have their eyes on the number one plate. But just like every year, a new breed of riders who will make take the next step into the 450 class look to spoil the veteran party. These riders are the rookies, who bring with them new skills and new riding styles. Every year when the supercross season rolls into Anaheim I, one of the biggest questions is if any of the newcomers can make a splash right off the bat.
Justin Barcia made a statement by winning the MEC.
The heavy favorite to lead the rookie class of 2013 is two time 250 East Champion Justin Barcia. Bambam made a huge statement in October by winning the overall at the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas. There is no doubt that Barcia likes his new factory honda ride, and it's apparent to everyone that he is smoother and more calculated on the big bike, which definitely helps control his wild, aggressive style. JB51 looks to join Damon Bradshaw, and Josh Grant, who are the last two riders to win their very first 450 (250) supercross in their very first race.
